Hello virtual reality pioneers!
Here at IstoVisio, we're excited to announce the launch of the latest iteration of syGlass: version 1.2.0. This update includes numerous enhancements that we think you'll love. Let's get right to it!
Redesign of the menu system and structure. The toolbar now fits seamlessly under the shader menu and contains labels for each tool.
Added tool menus. Now most tool options appear in tool-specific menus that appear to the right of the shader menu. The shader menu can be minimized using the green arrow at top left, so that only tool menus are shown.
Added security key status bar. syBook now displays the status of your security key (number of days remaining) in a banner at the top of the window and warns you if the security key is not found.
Measure angles in syGlass. The measuring tool now has an option to enable quick angle measurements. Simply drop three points to measure the angle between them.
Export your traced neurons for compartmental modeling in NEURON. A type (dendrite, axon, soma, etc.) can now be assigned to each point or set of points in a tracing. This type will be included in exported SWC files. An option to import/export HOC has been added for modeling in NEURON.
Adjustable tracing assist window. The assisted tracing procedure has also been improved: the size of the raw data patch is now adjustable in the tracing tool menu.
Automatic check for new releases. syBook now checks to see if a new version of syGlass is available, and will alert you with a red notification symbol above the syGlass logo in the bottom right corner of the window. Click on the logo to download the new version to a specified folder.
Added safe crashing. If syGlass crashes, please follow the directions to send us the crash info file. We'll be able to quickly locate the bug and ship out a hotfix. Projects are also shut down more safely when syGlass crashes.
Data can be grabbed from anywhere in the 3D space. Controllers no longer need to be inside the bounding box to grab the data. This option can be enabled and disabled in the transformation tool menu. A type (dendrite, axon, soma, etc.) can now be assigned to each point or set of points in a tracing. This type will be included in exported SWC files. An option to import/export HOC has been added for modeling in NEURON.
Improved consistency of tool controls. The counting, tracing, tracking, and measuring tools now have more consistent controls: press the directional pad to toggle between showing and hiding the annotation and to disconnect a segment. Press and hold the directional pad to toggle between the eraser and point placement. Colors are now changed via tool menus.
Quickswitch between any two tools. The quickswitch button now toggles between the current tool and the last tool selected. In previous versions of syGlass, it was only able to switch between the current tool and the transformation tool.
Mesh Transformation Mode. Modify the position of meshes relative to the image data. Allows users to manually align data from disparate coordinate systems.
